Rock Painting

Welcome to Gentry Homestead's Rock Painting Event, a unique and educational experience perfect for children aged from toddlers to 13. Nestled in the heart of nature, our farm offers an ideal setting for a day of creative exploration and learning. This event isn't just about painting; it's an adventure that combines the thrill of a treasure hunt with the joy of artistic expression.

At Gentry Homestead, we believe in the power of nature and art to ignite children's imaginations. Our farm, a picturesque landscape of rolling fields and a  gentle creek, provides a backdrop for endless discovery. As the owner and a retired K-12 Art Teacher, I have dedicated my life to teaching and inspiring young minds through art. After years in the classroom, I now focus on running our family farm and homeschooling my children. This event marks the beginning of our journey to share the wonders of art with the local community.

The Rock Painting Event is designed to be more than just an art class. It's an exploration that starts with a hands-on adventure as children hunt for their perfect rock in our creek bed. This quest not only connects them with nature but also helps them understand the diverse shapes and textures of rocks, setting the stage for their artistic endeavors.

Once the perfect rock is found, the painting begins. But it's not just about brushing colors onto a stone. This event is a learning experience where children will be introduced to basic painting skills, color blending, and the joy of creating something beautiful from a simple object found in nature. The skills they learn here – observation, creativity, and patience – are invaluable and extend far beyond the canvas (or in this case, the rock).

We encourage kids to dress for a day of fun and creativity. Since the event is outdoors, and involves a bit of adventure in the creek bed, boots are required. We also recommend wearing clothes that can handle a splash of paint or a bit of farm dirt, as we fully embrace the hands-on nature of this activity.

Parents, we haven't forgotten about you! For children under six, we require that a parent stays throughout the event. It's a great opportunity to witness your child's creative process and maybe even learn a thing or two about rock painting yourself. For older children, parents are welcome to explore the farm and enjoy the serene environment while the young artists are at work.

This event is set to happen rain or shine. We believe that a bit of rain adds to the adventure, and our farm offers plenty of natural shelter where kids can continue their art in comfort. The cost is $5 per child, a small fee to cover the supplies needed for this enriching experience.

The Rock Painting Event at Gentry Homestead is not just an art class; it's a celebration of creativity, nature, and learning. It's an opportunity for children to connect with the environment, learn new skills, and express themselves through art. As a retired art teacher and farm owner, I am thrilled to offer this experience and look forward to inspiring a new generation of young artists.

Join us for an hour of creative fun, learning, and exploration. Let's make some art and memories that will last a lifetime!
